Community Connections connects community members to helpful resources and services at times and places that are convenient and accessible to them.
Community Connections Projects include Service Pop-Ups, Resource Drive-Throughs, and Boost Boxes/ Bags.
- Service Pop-Ups- These one-day events provided valuable services such as dental care, legal consulations, tax preparation, and food assistance on Saturday mornings in areas of the county that are often lacking in services. By offering these services on a Saturday, working households were able to access the services without having to take time off of work. Unfortunately, we have had to suspend the Service Pop-Ups during the COVID-19 crisis.
- Resource Drive-Thrus- However, as the community copes with COVID-19, we have hosted Resource Drive-Thrus, impacting hundreds of households by providing food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, pet food, children's resources, and much more. The Resource Drive-Thrus allowed households to access these resources in a safe way and at a convenient time so that they did not have to take time off from work.
- Boost Boxes- Community Connections is also creating and delivering Boost Boxes to senior citizens in Charles County. Boost Boxes are full of typical household consumable supplies. The goal is to save seniors money in their monthly, fixed-income budgets. Delivering the boxes directly to them allows seniors to stay safe at home, avoiding potential exposure to COVID-19, and receive helpful resources at a convenient time. Sign up to volunteer stuffing the Boost Boxes or delivering the Boost Boxes.
