2016 Day of Caring - September 1, 2016
Work often comes at a steep cost and for many non-profit organizations, that price is too high for them to afford the proper staffing to get certain projects done. That is why services provided on the United Way of Charles County 'Day of Caring', held September 1st is so important to so many people. Volunteers from around the county, consisting of members of the community and staff from Charles County businesses, take the day off from their regular duties to go and contribute their time and work for the non-profit organization completing many types of work. Without the help of these volunteers, many things would not get done. Projects ranged from IT work, to landscaping, painting, flyer distribution, sorting donations, cleaning and organizing maintenance shops, to name a few.
This year we had 17 agencies that had 32 projects to be completed with 134 volunteers participating. The combined value of their donated time equates to nearly $20,000. We are grateful to all the volunteers that came out that day and assisted with this great event.
Pictures from this year's event are posted on our Facebook page here.
