Free Prescription Drug Discount Cards
"One Text Could Save Up to 75% on Generic Medications"

Back in the spring of 2008, United Way of Charles County joined over 600 local United Ways already participating with Pennsylvania-based FamilyWize Partnership to distribute free prescription drug discount cards in our area.  Since that time, United Way of Charles County has saved Charles Countians over $1,000,000.00 in prescription costs.

Now, United Way of Charles County makes it easier for everyone to get help both online and off.  You can now text the word 'family' to 700700 and could save up to 75% on the cost of some generic prescription medicine.  When you get a free FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card sent to your cell phone by TEXT just show the text to your pharmacist.  The pharmacist will automatically apply the discount allowed for that particular medicine.  The average savings on most prescriptions is 30%.  You can also get a gree FamilyWize card with a click of a mouse at the new FamilyWize Facebook page or print the card below.

Providing relief and coverage for health care is a top concern for United Way Worldwide.  In fact, it's part of one of the building blocks of a healthy community and one of United Way Worldwide's three priority areas.  There are still more than 80 million people in the United States, in every community, large and small, that do not have health insurance or need help to buy prescription medicine not covered by their health plan.

The cards are free and easy to use.  Simply take the card to your pharmacist along with your prescriptions.  Almost every pharmacy in the United States accepts the card, so you can use it wherever you are.   Everyone in the family can use the same card, and you can use it every time you fill a prescription, until December 31, 2014.  There is no paperwork, no enrollment, and no waiting period.  You will not be required to divulge any personal information, other than what you need to provide in order to get your medicine.

The cards are for people with no health insurance or who have to purchase medicines that aren't covered under their plan.  The only situation in which the cards cannot be used is when prescriptions are filled by mail.
